The Annual Sports Day of St Cecily’s High School, held on 19th October 2024 was a celebration of zeal, teamwork, and sportive competition. The inaugural of the event kicked off with a soulful prayer led by the school choir.
Sr Preethi Crasta A.C.,the Headmistress, accorded a warm welcome to the chief guest of the day, Sri Raghavendra Bhat, President, managing committee, Sri Jayadurgaparameshwari temple, Kannarpady, Udupi and all guests present for the inaugural. After the chief guest along with the dignitaries hoisted the school flag, the event witnessed a vibrant march-past, where students paraded in harmony and discipline, each class fluttering a colourful flag symbolizing their unity and pride. The parade was commanded by Akash, the school pupil leader and the school flag bearer in lead was Sanvi Shetty, assistant school pupil leader. The sports torch was relayed by the school’s sports achievers: Adlin Martis, Aaron Heal Kairanna, Bhoomika, Mohammed Safan and Aavni Ganesh.
The chief guest declared the meet open, and in his address to the students commended the school for its contributions to the sports sector. He h3ighlighted the importance of self- discipline, value system in this digital era .He urged the students to give importance to outdoor real time games and sports along with their studies.
Sr Therese Jyothi, the Joint Secretary in her address urged the students to embrace every competition with a positive spirit.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mr Edwin Mendonca, P.E.T of the school. . Ayush Shetty, the sports minister along with Simran and Shabnam compered the inaugural with poise and seamless coordination.
The inaugural was followed by the track and field events which brought cheers from every corner. Sprints, relays, jumps showcased the athletic talents of our students.
The final event was the much-awaited award ceremony, where trophies were handed out to the winning teams and individual stars of the day. But beyond the medals, it was the laughter, encouragement, and sportsmanship that truly made the day memorable.
